Join your IPPA friends in Ely, Nevada for a couple of days of fun, photography, and comradery.  We are going to gather in Ely to photograph the trains of the Northern Nevada Railway. The steam train departs the station at 4:30 on Friday August 24th.  There are more trains on Saturday the 25th.  You can chase them with a camera or ride them if you like (you’ll have to make you own reservations through the Nevada Northern Railway website - http://www.nnry.com/ ) Go to bed early Friday night because we’ll be gathering very early in the morning to photograph the stars, after the moon sets. Ely, Nevada is one of the darkest places in the US and a great place to shoot the Milky Way. Bring your tripods, cable releases, flashlights, and lawn chairs in addition to your cameras. Fast lenses are helpful. Although we will have some meet times and locations, there will be no formal scheduling for this shoot out. You can come when you like, stay as long as you like, and head for home when you like.  Families are welcome, especially if they want to ride the train while we photograph.  The IPPA is not charging for this event. Hotel, food, and train tickets if you so desire is on your own. We hope to meet for dinner and will have more information after Ted York scouts out the food and photo locations this weekend. We are also looking into possibly of providing a model or too. Please register just so we know who is coming and can be sure to look for you.  Hope to see you there!
